Palak Paratha (spinach paratha)

Palak Paratha is nutritious and delicious made with whole wheat and spinach. It is an easy, healthy spinach paratha recipe for kids. It tastes great with yogurt, pickle or raita.



Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup onion , finely chopped
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2-3 green chili, chopped (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (add accordingly)
  • 2 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon roasted cumin seed powder (Jeera Powder)
  • salt to taste
  • little wheat flour for dusting
  • oil for cooking
Method:
  1. Heat the oil. Add onion, garlic, green chili and saute it for few minutes.
  2. Then add spinach and salt. Saute it for 1 minute. Turn off the flame.
  3. After it cools down, blend the mixture into puree. 
  4. Mix the wheat flour and besan, add jeera powder, red chili powder and spinach puree to it. 
  5. Mix well to incorporate and form a soft pliable dough. If needed add more or less wheat flour to the dough. Knead the dough well. If required add little water to make a soft dough. 
  6. Apply little oil on top of dough, cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  7. Divide dough into 10-12 equal portions depending upon your desired paratha size.
  8. Now heat the skillet on medium flame.
  9. Take a dough ball, flatten it with palm, dust it with wheat flour and roll out each dough ball thinly into a circle.
  10. Drop the rolled paratha gently on hot skillet, Cook on both sides, using little oil till the parathas are golden brown.
  11. Spread butter on parathas and serve hot with curd, pickle or raita.
